New here. Everything kills me.
I died a few times in the prologue, and then maybe a dozen times afterwards on and near the beach. Ok, maybe balanced difficulty isn't for me, so I changed the difficulty to Story Mode. Literally never had to do this for any other game. Well same thing. Just dying. I met a ******* named Nettie, and she wipes the floor with me. Finally get past her, and find some singing demons. They floor me. So I go a different way. Find a goblin cap. 3 attempts, 3 deaths.

I've never played D&D before, and the closest experience I have to a clicking RPG is Runescape. I have never had so much trouble in a game before. I really have no indication of where to go, what to do, how to play. I'm just thrown into a world where at level 1 I am surrounded by everything that kills you.

Also, when my player dies in the world from the environment, none of the companions want to revive. They just loot my body. I'm also finding it annoying there's no passive out of combat heal.

Welcome to Dungeons and Dragons.

I'd offer you some advice, but you didn't give specific enough issues to really be able to give specific help. Have you considered looking up a guide online?

its a lot tougher than people let on, if you don't play crpg's its gonna be a steep learning curve

edit: watch some tips videos, and some lets plays

if u never played DnD the game will feel odd for you and its relatively easy to get killed.... can help u understand some of the mechanics if u want just gotta tell me what ur having difficulty understanding .
But the no passive healing is meant so u need to take short rests / long rests or use healing potions and spells so u can keep adventuring.

Wait for the hotfixes and patches, then you'll really struggle

LTP lol

Also what’s the point of this post , you aren’t asking for help or anything , you just saying you are bad at the game which is ok if you are new.

And it looks like you are playing it as an action game trying to kill everyone which isn’t what this game is about

Try to be diplomatic - why are you attacking Nettie?
BitterHeals Dec 6, 2023 @ 3:20pm
....what do you mean your companions are looting your body? Also, there's short rests for out of combat healing.

Nettie shouldn't be killing your whole party if it's a 4v1. What level are you, what classes?

Can't really fathom this one. Did you try to fight the devil the game explicitly tells you to avoid, or are you, say, trying to melee attack with an 8 Strength spellcaster instead of using spells? This could use more details.

That fight can actually be a bit hard. I'd just sneak past it until you have a full party.

Are you trying to murder everyone? Nettie isn't hostile, nor are most of the goblins initially.

Use a Revifify Scroll if the character is Dead. Use the Help action on your hotbar if they are only Downed and not Dead.

Just click the Short Rest button. When you run out of Short Rests and need to heal/regain spell slots, use the Long Rest button.

If you died in the prologue. You defintelly need to learn how to play the game.
my number 1 advice to new players is dont try to use heals to mitigate low HP its not worth it at low levels, 6 HP is less then a turn of damage, instead use heals to revive characters at the start cuz a whole lost turn downing them is significant. Healers just arent the same here.

Buffs and debuffs are massive, the goal is to mitigate damage rather, or prevent it altogether. boosting your rolls or lowering the enemies is often overlooked but is quite strong. without further details on party comp i can only offer generalized advice that might be helpful.

Well, to be fair, if you try to kill everything ie the commander and the 2 cambions an unexperienced player will get their ass handed to them...
And given that he even attacked nettie...that seems like a reasonable assumption...

True..But I think the game makes it fairly obvious to run past that fight and go for the control panel. Plus he is complaining of dying after that near the beach. Maybe he did not get any of the companions although Shadowheart is lying right there when you crash.

Oh, when they moved her the first time I ran right past her without noticing her...I can easily see that happen xD
Just another body on the beach :P

Is Shadowheart lying on the beach if you don't get her out of the pod? Thought I'd heard that they have multiple ways to meet her depending on how certain events play out.
... and as Powerword says, another body on the beach.
(Being a 'loot everything' person, it's weird watching others play, just running past everything)

Honestly I did a coop with a friend who was entirely new to both genre and dnd the purest form of fun chaos I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing 🤣
He went Rouge and pick pocketed everything, he got caught by astraion had to fight him, he tried to pickpocket a bears ass, this caused the entire grove to turn on us rofl
I was like "what did you think would be in a bears ass that would be valuable?" He got in trouble in the goblins camp left leazel in the cages, wyll died to camp assault karlach refused to join so all we had was shadowheart and gale, and we chose violence at every turn only because he was a klepto who kept getting caught lol truly the best act 1 I have ever experienced in my life.
