Modding is at your own risk and you need to study up on how to do it in BG3 properly. A good internet search will yield lots of good information. Even the forums here have a few summary posts on Modding BG3.
Good Luck
If you Mod, you'll need it.
- go to Nexus, select the mods you like (check that they are up to date, some mods can be abandoned and don't work with the current game version)
- mark those mods as "tracked", so that you may easily check if they have been updated
- read the descrition for the mods carefully, check the "bugs" tab for any pending bugs, maybe even check the posts to see if the author communicates with the mod users
- download BG3 Mod Manager and read everything on this page: https://github.com/LaughingLeader/BG3ModManager
- configure BG3 Mod Manager and Script Extender (it's incorporated into BG3 MM), check "Enable the achievements box"
- install the mods as described by the mod authors and on BG3 MM page (don't forget to export mod order to the game)
- check if the mods work. For most mods it's quite easy, e.g. this mod for better mini-map: https://www.nexusmods.com/baldursgate3/mods/2256
If mods don't work or you can't talk to NPCs in the game, then you probably need to add Mod Fixer (also on Nexus). Mod Fixer is a weird thing which, depending on conditions unknown to me, may be necessary or not. For example, I couldn't get my mods to work without it, but after patch 5 I had to delete it and all my mods still work.
Also I suggest you go to BG3 Guides -> Modding and find\read some articles about modding there.
Mind, that you will have to keep the mods up-to-date as they get broken after every big patch and might get broken after a hotfix.
