People are wondering if it's a bug introduced with the latest update.
IF it actually is a bug relating to the Astarion personal char quest, Ascension then i'm sure there will be a quick-fix incoming.
I'm not at that point in my current playthrough. (Not in Act 2, yet. Underdark and Grymforge is next on my list. Then I'll need to decide how I want to enter Act 2.) So, this is only from what I've read elsewhere.
Well, patch today did nothing, so there's that. And a fix a week from now (if it comes that quick) still does squat for me right now, so even though you're probably right it doesn't help my mood. So I'm just going to continue to sulk.
Must be a similar door bug, many people have

If you are currently using mods or have used them previously, they may be what is causing this issue. It’s best to double check that all mod files are completely removed. To do so, check the 'Mods' and 'Public' folders in the '..\SteamApps\common\Baldurs Gate 3\Data' folder, etc; and if present, both folders are safe to delete. If applicable, you can also delete the modsettings.lsx file in the profile folder.
You are also going to need to check the local AppData folder for the current user account: '..\SteamApps\common\Baldurs Gate 3\Data' as any old mod files may have been copied over to there. To do this, copy the following line into the location bar in Explorer and hit Enter: %LocalAppData%\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3\Mods
Delete any files you find there.

I removed the mods from the game, reloaded the game and sure enough, the ring worked.
Be Gale
Have Arcane Lock, Knock, and Gaseous Form prepared.
Cast those spells in that order;
Arcane Lock to override the permanent effect with a turn based effect.
Knock to remove the "mundane" lock after new Arcane Lock expires.
Gaseous Form to move through door.
Click to move in the black area behind the door.
This only works on the first door. The doors after this one don't recognize it.
I did have some luck using just gaseous form on one door. I may try bringing enough scrolls for my whole party...but it's so tedious!
