Can not play instruments.
When I press preform my PC pulls out the instrument and the white text appears above saying the song and then he immediately puts the instrument away. I looked it up and it can be tied to certain equipment but not in this case. I have taken everything off *all* of my party and it still happens. Anyone have a fix?

Controller?

It's sensitive to the movement. You have to immediately let go of the stick when choosing the song or the character will move slightly, ending the song immediately.

There was one mention where mods caused the savegame to corrupt that they become unusable.

This could be it but I only have 2 mods and they are for making a sword sheathable and shields visible.

Nonetheless a mod is a mod. The other mention was about a cosmetic only mod. It surprised them, but after they removed their mods thoroughly as instructed and tried it again it worked for them.

I'll give it a try and see. I've had these two mods installed since day one though. weird if it suddenly corrupted my save.
I did some testing and removing the mods didnt do anything, I even made a new game as a bard just to see if that would work. One with mods disabled and enabled.
I also noticed that all of the npcs are also unable to play. The same glitch happens.

just to ask, are you actually proficient with instruments as a bard or the act 1 learn to play sequence? If not, you will try to play it, usually fail unless you have performance and high cha score, and give it up quickly. If you make the roll, you will play the song out, but its tough because it can be used to distract npcs

If you're not proficient with an instrument it will just sound horrible, it doesn't actually prevent you from playing anything. Something else is going on here if the OP can't play at all.

Also would have nothing to do with the bard npcs in the world also being unable to play. What a wierd bug. It's like my whole game has been bugged.

Although doable, I was never actually much good at reading sheet music, but I could play by ear.
