question about knocking out minthara
do you have to do it at the goblin camp for her to show up at moonrise later?
can you knock her out during the grove fight and have it work, or will some random NPC go and kill her / it won't register the same?
for roleplay purposes i'd love to initiate the grove fight with her.

you need to knock her out when she is temporarily hostile, so it must be at the goblin camp

knocking her out when she is at the grove defense won’t work, I tried myself

You can knock her down, but you can't knock her up :(

You also need to complete halsin's quest before long resting after you knocked her out or you won't be able to free him from his cell

For future reference, here you can find the current conditions to take her along on a good playthrough

as dizzy ladybug correctly wrote - the temporary hostile state is one of the keys to use that loophole - otherwise she is not supposed to be recruitable for a good playthrough.

Shame, i have her knowcked out just now at the door of the emerald grove. Well, gonna just end the job and get her parasite for collection (as i'm not using any of them).

Didn't know it it necessary not to take a long rest, after knocking her out. I found sadly out that she does not appear in Act 2. I think the long rest issue is a bug.

If I kill first the other leaders and knock her unconscious after them, would it be enough to get her in Act 2

It is not a bug. It is a game mechanic. After a long rest they wake up. If Halsin's quest is not resolved by then, then it does not count.

What matters is you fulfilling Halsin's quest. In what order you take down the leaders matters little, but I recommend dealing with Minthara first so the worries about the quest not triggering correctly is reduced to a minimum.

You can simply ignore the both quests concerning the Grove and the Goblin Camp. She will be recruitable in Act 2 and you still keep Wyll and Karlach. You won't get Halsin that way. She is worth it as an ally, though. Minthara is extremely strong and unless you play a good and idealistic character (or you use her for the toughest fights only), you should be fine with her.

Another con is the fact the tieflings won't survive . But the Grove can be saved (it is a bit complicated but it works).

so the weirdest thing happened.
i didnt accept/see Halsin in the dungeon first before doing the temporary hostile thing with Minthara. I accepted her first, then stole something in front of her to trigger the temp hostile. knocked her out, then went to Halsin, then cleared out the entire camp. i also did a long rest in another room to test if she'd be still be at the temple or not. she had disappeared so i thought it had worked. turns out after all, she still turned up at the grove in her underware.. cuz i looted her, and had more allies with her. dufuq man. x-x now i gotta do it all over again. but i'll follow these steps, so hopefully it works this time.
