I wish I could skip the shadow cursed lands.
I hate looking at it, all dark and dreary.

On the one hand, yeah, of course, it's a dreary place that sucks aesthetically.

Shadow curse sucks and ultimately it's just down to where you figure out to get your first moonlantern, and then whether you decide to keep using it OR free the pixie inside it, so now you don't have to keep it equipped . Torches, light spells, daylight spell, and Isobel's blessing can hold the lesser version of the curse back, but you need a moonlantern for the worst areas of the curse.

On the other, it's the only place where things like "shadow teleport," requiring you to teleport from/to shadowed areas, constantly work. Outdoors anyway, as indoor places (that are not abandoned) are often lit.

Shadow cursed land quests are necessary for having sex with shadowheart. Isn't that clear enough?

It was weird. I don't know what I did wrong, but I never got the opportunity to do that during my HM. All other playthroughs, I did just that (even the first one). Just that one where I couldn't savescum, I never got the option. (Now, that I'm savescumming until my SSD explodes, I'll see if I can figure out what I did wrong that one time.)
That's how I feel about most of the Underdark outside a couple areas. Didn't love the Nere, Grymforge, or Arcane Tower quests - but the XP is worth it

You can only interact with the Moon Lantern from Kar'niss, so you either have to actively kill him (in the Harper ambush for example) or have him give it to you and then send him into the Shadow Curse to die. There is another Moon Lantern in Balthazars lab in Moonrise Towers, but you can't interact with it and thus cannot free the Pixie inside it.

Yeah. Following the Underdark with the Shadow-Cursed lands makes for a very long gloomy section.

What I find wierd is that there's a part 1 of a document in the Underdark zone with a special secondary document needed for it (or a special someone or similar), part 2 in the Mountain Pass zone which also needs that special secondary document (or that special someone or similar), and part 3 in the Shadow-Cursed Lands which also needs that special secondary document (or a special someone or similar).

While none of the documents are actually necessary for the sidequest, they do have an effect on the special someone and have objectives in the quest including an update for getting all three.

It suggests the game wants you complete both paths before deciding on how to enter the Shadow-Cursed Lands if you're doing it for the lore (or for that special someone). Without that special someone or similar and without the secondary document from the Underdark, parts 2 and 3 are unreadable.

I've always gotten it that first way, but that one HM time even though I tried the same way, I didn't get any options regarding what was inside it—just that my character noticed a fluttering in it and nothing else. I tried dropping it, picking it up, getting a second one from Moonrise towers... nada. I always prefer the other way of dealing with the curse for convenience.
I would take 50 Shadow Cursed Lands in a row to never have to enter Felogyr's Fireworks ever again
