Why did they give Armour of Agathys to worst Draconic Ancestor? REEEEEEEE
White Dragons are the weakest and dumbest of all the chromatic dragons! All they do is eat frozen food and mate in snow-blasted hell holes! They're the double-digit IQ of dragon kind! They can't even speak! I want this ability, but I don't want my half-elf to be associated with such troglodytes for ancestors! This ability clearly should have gone to Silver dragon ancestors!

I dunno, sounds kinda racist to me.

You basically explained why with your rant. White dragons eat frozen food and mate in snow blasted hell holes, and armor of agathys does what type of damage? Oh right COLD DAMAGE.

Seems pretty self evident doesn't it?

It's a pretty shtty spell... Unless you're doing some weird ice based padlock build, you're better off with pretty much anything else in that slot.

Silver dragons are also cold-based though. Should have given worthless feather fall to worthless white dragons

Armor of Agathys is also not very good past level 3. It gives enough tHP to cover MAYBE one hit, and the cold damage is mediocre, even at level 1. Given how few spellslots warlocks get, it's absolutely not worth it, even as it scales with spellslot level.

To add insult to injury, it's only available to Warlocks (I couldn't find any reference to it being available on an item...), and the generally accepted best Warlock subclass is Fiend... which also grants tHP.

Now I don't know how the game does it, but in tabletop rules, as soon as you kill something as a Fiend warlock, you lose Armor of Agathys altogether.

In tabletop, when you receive a source of THP while already benefiting from a source of THP, you choose which source persists (generally allowing players to pick either the source that has the better rider or the source that has the bigger pool).

I know how useful Feather Fall is. But I ain't wasting a Draconic Ancestry power on it, lol. Especially when you can loot a pair of boots in the Underdark Arcane Tower that gives you the ability for free.

I think you just described the best dragon. Enjoy your dragon politics - I'll be eating my frozen nuggies and [Redacted].
Since your ancestry literally doesn't affect anything else in the game whatsoever, and all you want is the spell, just take it and roleplay as if your ancestry is different.

Also, white dragons are second best draggies in D&D (after green draggies).

Based on what standard? What metrics are you utilizing here? If this is a competition of strength and power, the winners would be Gold and Red dragons. If it's a competition of lore, the winners could be Blue, Gold, Silver, or even Copper. White Dragons lose no matter what metric you're using. They're the dumbest, lamest, weakest, and most boring race of dragons in D&D lore. And that's saying something considering they're chromatic.

And let's not forget the most important reason of all! Let's put aside the fact that chromatic dragons are the types of dragons who are the least likely to mate with humans considering their superiority complex (suspension of disbelief mixed in with extenuating circumstances or some lore-based exception can always turn that rule around). But it cannot be ignored that White Dragons are basically creatures of instinct, not intelligence. They would never have a reason nor a cause to procreate with elves or humans. This goes beyond the suspension of disbelief and into asspull territory. The humanoids of Elturel may as well be into unironic bestiality at that point.
