Have Fun! :)
What are you talking about?
If the race you selected has no advantage to your class that is a selection issue.
Grab +5 movement.
BG3 is based on the full D&D 5e rule set. That is why it is the way it is.
Like the other guy asking for the Dwarf Defender ... uhhh, it doesn't exist in 5E anymore, catch up with the times.
5E *does* have racial stat bonuses, Larian just chose not to implement them. There are indeed racial feats (like Elven Accuracy) in 5E, but, they're not in vanilla. Races mostly confer proficiencies, passives, and sometimes abilities and resistances. They often do synergize with certain classes ... but not in the ways they did in NWN.
Ah, I love it when a new player only sees the numbers and disregards everything else.
No, Race - as a matter of fact - does not "mean nothing" to your character.
First off, each race has specific dialogue options that can make certain encounters easier or harder. Rolan is guaranteed to stay to help the Tieflings if a Dragonborn comes up to chat, because the Dragonborn has their own unique dialogue option about "clan being everything" that gets Rolan and his siblings to stay and help.
Second, and this is more into the minmaxing/optimizing of the game, each race comes with its own unique set of traits or abilities that the other races don't get. Drow get Faerie Fire as an innate spell, no matter the class. Hill Dwarves have more health than most. Humans and Half-Elves get Civil Militia, which guarantees light armor and shield proficiency, plus access to several polearm weapons. Dragonborn get elemental resistances based on their draconic lineage. Tieflings get Fire Resistance plus several innates based on their Infernal legacy. Wood Elves both Half and Full get 5ft of extra movement. Githyanki get a free Misty Step at 5th. Duergar become ninjas with innate invisibility.
Those traits are POWERFUL in the right setups, and can completely change the dynamic of the character. A Wood Elf or Githyanki Monk is WAY better at maneuvering a battlefield than a Halfling or Gnome Monk. Human Wizards are WAY less glassy than their High Elf counterparts (Mage Armor + Safeguard Shield, it's insane how resilient that is). Dragonborn characters using a Lightning or Heat build get major benefits from their resistances that a Dwarf simply can't.
