After Endboss
So, I am I think, finally right before the endboss (just one or two spots left to explore) and there is hanging a thought in my mind.
Will I be able to walk around and loot more stuff after the endboss fight? Or should I do that before?

1) Why would you want to do that? The game is over after it.
2) No, you won't.

you don’t have to go to ng+ right away, you can beat the final boss, see your ending and choose to stay in your world and explore more

There is no leaving to go back to the rest of the world after you're in the endgame. That is exactly what the warning about getting into the skiff for the Morphic pool means. No back to camp, no more access to your camp chest, no more companion swapping.

This game has no NG+. You can start a new game after the ending - epilogue, but then it's a new Tav from scratch. No your inventory doesn't carry over.

There is Popper the kobold merchant in the Last Hall before the endgame fights kick in. That's it. After that, there is nobody else to sell to, or buy from.

The Morphic Pool is the definitive "Point of No Return" for BG3. The minute you board that boat, you're in the endgame, and the game WILL END when you ride that train to the last stop.

If you want to 100% Baldur's Gate before the Morphic Pool, you have to do before you board that boat, you will not get another chance to do so afterwards.
