From the Underdark to the Ancient Abode

Something in Baulder's Gate 3 Act 1 that has always puzzled me is the entrance from the underdark, the Underdark-Beach waypoint, through the invisible/disappearing platforms, and into the hag's underground lair, or the ancient abode.

Has anyone been able to get in there before Auntie Ethel reveals herself to be a hag? Unlike the other door, I think you need to have the wooden mask to pass through it, but I have not tried it myself.

Besides that, I wonder if there is a point to it, other than the small amount of crystals and food. Has anyone discovered anything special or unique?
You do not need the mask to get there, just to enter the ancient abode after taking the mushroom portal past the illusion wall after the jumping puzzle.

I wonder if you can use invisibility to walk past the hag and get a mask without talking to her in her hut.

I don't think so. I think the game is programmed to make her aggressive if you go through the fireplace illusion.

At least that's what happened to me. It might have been a bug, or stealth is not enough. It has been awhile since I tried.

I was able to enter the ancient abode without a mask with the gaseous form's fly ability. If you stand on the edge of the platform thing and move the camera so it's blocked by a root on the roof you can see through the tree faced door and can click through it. Then the gaseous character just flies under from the giant hole to the other side of the door. Not sure if it helps tho sadly I already looted the whole place at this point.

(And it works for the wild -> underdark direction too if you fidget with the camera a little, so maybe this is another way to the underdark?)

Very interesting. Did you try entering the abode before meeting Auntie?

Ah, okay. I guess I have a goal for my Honor Mode campaign then.
