Lost honour mode run because of this?
Possible spoilers:

Doing fantastic on my honour mode run. Was in the Gith temple, defeated the guy and his minions with some luck on my side. Immediately entered dialogue with Vlakith. Gave me the option to detect thoughts to see what her intentions were. Failed a DC 10. Used inspiration. Failed again. WTF. Immediately wipes the entire party in dialogue. Honour mode over. End game.

This is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ trash.

this shouldn't be your first playthrough, right? that's your problem for not going for the 100% pass dialogue.

You got caught trying to read a Goddess' mind and were promptly smited for it.
Actions, meet Consequences.

Yeah, because I was trying to mess around and be an arshehole... Not.
My other option was to kill my guardian or join her, I didn't like any of those options so I was hoping for more information. Pretty ♥♥♥♥ design that you get party wiped in dialogue for failing a DC 10 twice in a row just for trying to detect thoughts.

Intimidate? Sure. Deception? Sure. "No ♥♥♥♥♥ I won't help you." Sure. But this? I don't know man. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

I didn't take the mountain pass last run, didn't even see the gith temple.

honor mode is made to be this way. Moreover you're neither familiar with BG3 nor DnD.
I'd made the same exact mistake you made in this run If I didn't play 4 x tactician and read stuff about the game and dnd tbh.

I'm not keen on the instakill there but there is plenty of warning that Vlaakith expects obedience or else... The options at that point aren't great but there you are deciding to go visit an inquisitor, who is actively hunting the thing protecting you from your brain worms, all in the middle of a Gith encampment. Live and learn. Or not live as the case may be...

No matter what you do that area ends in a fight, and vlakith doesn't care if you help or not. She is a power hungry lich, quite frankly it's smart to play along with someone who has 9th level spells lol

I don't think it is a good idea to play honour mode when you aren't very familiar with the game. You choosing to do it doesn't make the game bad.

Honor mode really isnt the place to try out what an unknown area is like. Especially if its the Githyanki Creche full with warriors. This one is kinda on yourself.
Personally i like the insta kill that you can get. On my first playthrough i felt like messing around with the goddess aswell - was quite funny getting put in my place lol.

It's not bad design. It's not only combat where you can die. The game had made it abundently clear that Vlaakith is powerfull, practically a god, and that she rules a society where it's members don't get second chances. You could have reasonably expected that trying to outsmart her with a level 3 spell was going to get you killed. You took the risk, and lost.

It's fun that they held the lore behind her "godhood" so well, even when she wipes the party she "wishes for your death" one heck of a way to waste that daily power lol

Honor mode is for people who are familiar with the game. You are running blindly into content you haven't played wasn't prepared for and paid for it. The Vlaakith moment is very common knowledge among experienced players.

I did the Gith temple blind. I skipped it in my first playthrough. But when I went there in Honor mode I wasn't dumb enough to antagonize a goddess in the middle of her warrior camp. If you are dying to Vlaakith, it's because you can't read a damn room to save your life.

Also a fair point.

What? You think insulting someone whom people revere as a God will go bad in her own home? Lol
