I see. So if I happen to whisk them out peacefully, then it's okay?
One more question: Do I need to rescue everyone at the same time?
Minthara is in a different section to the Gnomes and Tieflings, but is being broken - not sure if there's a time/long-rest limit on saving her there or not.
If you helped the Gnome's escape by giving them a tool, they'll break the Tieflings out as well and escape in a boat.
I see; thanks!
What happens in the prison stays in the prison. You can kill those guarding Minthara or other prison guards around the gnomes and tieflings. Does not generate hostility in the levels above. Follows the usual game rule - if they didn't see it, it didn't happen.
You will get the same warning entering Moonrise with Minthara as you do with Halsin: "this is risky, do you want to proceed". But in all practicality, I persuaded the guards outside to let me leave with her, and they must have told everybody else inside she's my prisoner, so nobody batted an eye when she came back inside with me.
Awesome; thanks!
The other question though: Would you advise me to rescue everyone all at once? Or can I rescue them at different times?
Incorrect, you can rescue everyone and still go back. There are some steps to this though so if you wanna figure it our on your own don't read the steps!
Step 1 dispatch the wondering eye and any guard that wonders past the cells, on tactician there are 2 eyes and 2 guards. In 1 turn! I highly suggest telekinesis, or throwing them with high str with full yeet into the death pit lol
Step 2, use silence on the wall, this will prevent sound so no others hear it. Now you can leave the rest of the prison alive. I have rescued the tieflings, and gnomes with this method while walking around freely after.
The rescue method most people do is give Wulbren the hammer and he smashes a hole in his cell. IIRC he busts a hole in the tiefling cell as well and they all make a run. Now I tried it, and what happens is you ended up helping them by fighting the guards on the way out. The guards are no problem for me, the trick is not getting all the escapees killed. They are low HP, run on bone dead AI, etc. That part is what sucks.
Here is the method I use. I murderhobo the Warden, all the guards, AND all the folks on the Docks outside. From experience, although you wouldn't think so, no this doesn't make the rest of Moonrise hostile. Leave a totally clear path for them. Go to Warden's room and throw the lever that opens all the cells. Both gnomes and tieflings make a run for the boats, have a totally clear path, and DONE. Fast travel to Last Light, Wulbren acts like a jerk but will reward you, and the Tieflings have a reward for you, too.
Freeing Wulbren will lead to stuff in Act 3, but I'll leave that for other spoilers. IMHO, it all plays out best if Barcus Wroot is also still alive and around in Act 3.
Hmmm. If you're asking can you rescue Minthara and the other prisoners at once - nah not really. You take Minthara out the front door, the gnomes and tieflings are headed to boats on the docks. It's not really feasible. Free Minthara, THEN come back and deal with the other prisoners. And there is some satisfaction to having Minthara as a party member killing the other guards ESP her torturers if they're not dead already.
Thanks for the comprehensive advice!
??? Wasn't saying they couldn't go back, just that how they free the prisoners matters if they want to avoid a fight.
When I returned later, I was able to go up to Z'rell on the first floor (which in the USA is typically considered the 2nd floor) without incident (except for trying to explain why I let the Goblins go, but again, I got lucky with the checks).
Sazza willsend a note to the player in the epilogue if he survives.Time for an expansion DLC of BG3! (Not gonna happen, but there's another additional hook for it, at the least.)
