Silver Sword of the Astral Planes

I'm at level 5 now, and was trying to get this legendary sword from Voss for Lae'zel.
I managed to succeed a "drop weapon" on the 2nd try, but instead of dropping his sword, he only dropped a crossbow? You cannot even see him wearing the sword, only the crossbow. Did Larian fix this exploit in patch 5? Or can it still be done and I perhaps was unlucky with the drop? Anyone knows?

Sometimes voss spawns holding a crossbow instead of the sword. If that's the case, you can't get it in act 1.

Nope.
Just did it in my current playthrough.

I dunno why he sometimes drops the crossbow, but he dropped the sword for me first try even, at a 16% chance to succeed.

Also beware that if you do that in Act 1 with LAe'zel in your party, Lae'zel will turn hostile with the other Gith.

I think they meant you might be out of luck on that run, Since Voss is already spawned wielding the crossbow and not the sword

I see... hmm... that sucks then.

What if I saved the game before he spawned, and just try it until he does spawn with the sword. That could be an option right?

Try it, should be easy to test. I think it's per save file, but could totally be wrong.

Welp, I did a few reloads, but every time Voss comes into play, he always has the crossbow. Tried to see if I could pickpocket the sword as he should have it on his person, but that wasn t the case either. This is the first time in my 5th playthrough that he doesn t carry the sword. And it seems he doesn t spawn with it in this current one. Bummer!

Just add it to your inventory with a mod if you wanna exploit the game. It's faster and easier.

I can t use mods. I play on Linux OS. So this was the only option. But it s okay, I ll wait til act 3 when Voss gives it
