Ogres in blighted village.
Hi, I'm playing bg3 for like a third time, but I've never figured out the secret of the school where we meet ogres in blighted village. Since the ogres usually aren't this well spoken, I'm pretty sure there's something to discover there.

Could anyone give me any tips or pointers without spoiling everything? Where to look, what spells, tools to try?

Only one of the ogres is well spoken and it would be shame if something.. deadly.. happened to him, no? ;p

I usually just fight and kill them, but there are many other options.

The reason the one ogre is unusually well-spoken:

He ate someone that was wearing a magic item that provides intelligence. If you kill him, you can get it for yourself, and it will give whoever wears it INT 17.

Also, the secret of the school is the same as the secret of the whole village:

A necromancer moved to town, and started killing off people while pretending to heal them. Kids started "disappearing".

The location is hardly related to the smart ogre.

I'll keep spoilers minimal, but only one of those three is smarter than the average ogre. He calls himself Lump the Enlightened and if you talk to him he will tell you why he is smarter than the average ogre.

If you handle the encounter properly, you can get a horn to summon him and his 2 dumber pals later on in the game. How useful it is - been some threads on that. May be helpful in most of Act 1. They are mostly meat shields but can help out. They sure did one time when I really borked Grymforge.

Or you can just fight them for loot, if you choose to turn things aggressive. You won't get the horn to summon them, of course, because they're dead.

Now I wonder
was it the same guy the ogre ate?

I was actually bothered by the game not letting me wipe the gunk off the flavor text :D

Faerun is a pretty rough neighborhood. A little ogre-gut juice in your hair is just business as usual.
