how do i fix mods
soo i searched for this and literally no one seems to have solved it and well i need help..
my baldur gate 3 crashes kinda often, and i am aware that the problem might be my mods, although i checked one by one they are all updated and not corrupted. thing is, i never know when its gonna crash (it crashed when i was saving it last night) but well i really wanna use mods lol im not even using that much mods and many people seem to run them just fine and im a noob and do not know how (if theres a way) to do something about it
i found some people talking about fixing de mod fixer? but im not sure and am scared to do smth to my mods and mess my game. so if anyone knows if the problem can be in fact the mods (my drivers are all updated etc) and if it can be fixed 🙏🙏🙏🙏

Question 1. Are you using a mod manager? You should. Mods can work and then cause crashes and problems after a patch. They can conflict with each other. A mod manager helps you disable them, so you can find the source of the problem. It also sometimes matters the load order, which a manager can help you change.

Have you looked at event viewer to see if it throws up any errors when the game crashes? I'm also having crashes and I'm using mods but ive redownloaded and reinstalled all of them, as well as the game itself but ive had no luck. If you get an error message like mine it may point to a common issue.

Just do a clean install and play the game unmodded.

And like magic, your problems are solved!

Only use mods that have no bugs, you can find out by looking at the bug reports or checking the comments section on nexus. Bg3 is still releasing patches which breaks mods so there are a lot of moving parts right now, meaning the safest way is to not use any at all or be very careful what you use. To fix your broken game, do a full uninstall, then delete the game folder and any remaining files, then reinstall a fresh copy and start a new game from scratch

Having said that i am using mods. Ones that i can confirm work fine as of right now:

-Appearance edit enhanced
-Basket of equipment
-Tav’s hair salon
-All the new head models seem to work (vemperen’s other heads, themia’s sister, krayn’s head)
-Bags bags bags (don’t use book bag)
-Better containers
-No alphabets
-Sussur bow
-Scantily camp outfits
-Dwarf beards

Those are enough for now imho

yes i did, it pointed an error in KERNELBASE.dll and BG3ModManager.exe. i tried searching and following instructions for KERNELBASE.dll, such as verifying the hard drive and using commands in cmd, etc, but it didnt worked for me. a person commented about mod manager in this section, so im going to search further about it to see what i can find:)

i checked for both updates and bugs within the mods and everything seemed alright, and as i said i don't use that many, but thanks a lot! i'll definetely uninstall everything if there's really no way out:)

i would also like to point out that i've came to delete a few mods (im almost sure i did it correctly), and don't know if that may contribute to any of this, but before deleting some of them it had a crash in a cutscene. then the game runned just fine for hours (i had also searched for other things that may have caused the crash and followed tutorials for a bunch of them), but as soon as i got out of a sort of underground cave with my party and clicked to save, it has crashed ever since. i cannot save the game in any way and tried sooo many times to do so

If you delete mods in the middle of your playthrough it can cause a lot of problems depending on the mod

At this point with that dll issue I would just start fresh bro

I guess it depends on the mod but if it is a mod type that is prone to issues it usually some parts of it get baked into your save and just cease to function properly, so it just crashes when it can’t compete whatever it was doing

Sometimes you can get around it by selling or destroying anything in game from that mod before you remove the mod, but not always. Again it depends what it is.. things with scripts are going to be problematic but aesthetics like a new face model for your character would probably be fine as long as you swapped to another face before you removed the mod

When you install a mod mid-playthrough that you haven’t used before, back up your save first and then test it right away and check the mod’s bug page and comments for users having problems.
