[FIXED] Surface book 3 does not work with BG3

Hi

I try ro play with my surface book 3 aand nvidia 1660, nd the first time it does not work . I try with directx 11and the cursor and the image are stuck on the loading. I can not do anything. THe second time i try with vulcan and the game launch and i can play with it.
I quit and try to relaunch but now it's always stuck whatever i choose vulcan or directx and the cusor seems stuck .

I am bit confusing on the behavior of my machine , any help would be appreciate to launch the game on this device ...

when it was working i've got a quiet good framerate i was in 1600x1080.

Need to know exactly what the specs are for the Surface Book that you have.

Including how much free space is on the SSD, VRAM, RAM, OS, etc.

memory 32GB
Processor I7 1065
GPU 1660 TI

BG3 seems not working on directx 11, i have succeed to run it on vulcan only once, the first time after never work

The 1660 TI is going to be a weak point, especially if you are running higher than 1080p on the laptop.

If you have 200gb *after* installing BG3, that should be fine. If it is 200gb *before* installing, that could be a problem.

Vulcan, for the most part, does not work well in BG3. Have to stick to DX11.

Are you running Win 10 or Win 11?

Can you make it to the Launcher ok? When exactly does it start to have problems; what part of the startup sequence?

I can play in vulkan if i keep the resolution of 3160x2160 and if i do nottouche the mouse when loading the main screen. If i change the resolution to a lower one in the game then the game stuck immidiatly and the cursor does not move anymore.

That resolution with that video card is going to be an issue on a Laptop.

Beyond that, I only run on DX11 so I have no experience with Vulcan. Another will have to address that.

I would rather attempt to figure out why DX11 is failing on that system. Try setting the laptop resolution to 1080p, just as an experiment. See if it starts in DX11.

Ok i found the fix, it drives me crazy but i think i found the issue. And now i can launch it with the directx 11 version.

I have o, the binary bg3_dx11 and bg3.exe deactivated the option for the full screen and no more flickering or blocking issue. I can also switch the resolution without problems :)

Outstanding! Just FYI, BG3.exe launches the game in VULCAN mode by default. BG3_DX11.exe launches in DX11. :)

You might also want to check your OS default optimisation settings for the future.
