Start looking for an earlier save, hope you're not playing Honour mode.
There are ways to sabotage this but essentially the easiest way to stop this from happening is to steal the statue without being detected. This is not recommended on the first step as you will miss out on some chances of rewards though if you didn't get hired to do this.
The best reward outcome is to get hired to steal the statue, discover Kagha's alternate plans then confronting her and then dealing with that, as it will halt the sealing permanently and most of the druids will look away from the statue making stealing it a bit easier...but you will still want to do a blinding cloud to lower the chances of being seen to zero, then you get the reward for the statue from the kids. If you decide to paste Kagha then you get her stuff as well. If you are a druid class your actions can also give an additional reward. If you like loot you can temporarily change your class to druid for the fight I guess?
Meat Cannon - Okey :)
AvG - Ah okey
I personally won't use it, not only because it keeps me from fixing my own boneheaded mistakes, but can trap you at points through no fault of your own due to bugs.
Did you go to the mountain pass? You can safely go around all the main map and the underdark (not 100% sure about Grymforg but I think you're safe to go there), if you travel to an area too far ahead in the story you'll get a warning and if you still go thats when time actually passes and some things rap themselves up without your intervention. I know going to the mountain pass is one such instance, Grymforge may be but I can't be 100% certain either way and I don't have a save I can test with.
Also if grymforge is fine, using it to go to the shadow cursed lands will also cause things to progress and rap themselves up. Again you should get a warning pop up asking if you are sure you want to keep going because of consequences.
I hope this clears a few things up and you can figure out how you triggered it, honestly if you have a save before the rite I would just suggest re-loading that so long as you haven't done too much since.
seeker1 - oh. no i didnt choose that! :)
Lady ester had really good dex robes for my monk so I went straight there to pick them up, but when I came back everything was messed up now. Luckily I only popped in for the robes so I had a save just before since I was wary of the warning.
