I also did a long rest and tried again and it does not work. I also tried to pick Gortash to my inventory and does not work.
Killed Gortash, took his hand and netherstone; took a long rest; went to the Tribunal and played "who's the better killer" with them; then made haste and went to the Temple.
She wasn't thrilled that I murdered the Murder Tribunal, but she had no problems recognizing that Gortash was, indeed, dead.
1. Gortash body was too damaged (I almost one-shot him essentially - with sorcerer with two arcane batteries dual wielding he melts). I do not think this has something to do with it.
2. I saw the gloves (gauntlets (?)) were very good for my monk, so instead of looting them, I sent them directly to the monk. Strangely enough, it does not trigger the cutscene with the elder brain and the Netherstone does not get removed from the gauntlets. However, I went to camp and sent the gauntlets to my main character, and the cutscene triggered while I was in the camp xD
I do not know if this has something to do with it. Maybe the fact I sent the gloves to my monk directly (the monk was at the camp) and the cutscene triggered only later it messed the code somehow?
