Investigate the beach and talk to mol bugged

Hi,

Ive read a lot of threads now but nothing seems to fit my problem. I saved the boy at the beach and my Questlog says: Talk to Mol. I CAN talk to mole but I have no option to select something it has to do with the beach.... I talked to the resuced boy and he gave me a story how I rescued him. Red it but cant really get this quest complete... Mol has no option to select...

As long as you talk to Mol, that's basically the end (for now). If you want to, you can ask her if there is anything you can do to help.

It's been a while since I was in the grove, but I found the "investigate the beach" flag didn't clear until I asked to trade with Mol. Try that and see if it works.

Nothing seems to work.... I talked to him but he is mad at me bacause I didnt want to steal the idol

Sadly it did not do anything.... Any suggestions? The quest is not complete until I talk to Mol but there is no option....

I tried the quest again from a previous safe but it did not complete either...... The open quest marker bothers me... Is it possible to load a safe before accepting this quest ( went to the beach and heard the harpies singing a song) and dont to to investigate further? So that I dont receive the quest. Then it will not be open i the quest log?

I've had this bug a few times! It doesn't effect anything if it doesnt close - its okay! Did you investigate the hatch area and see the opening before talking to Doni at the entrance? That's usually what I think causes me to have this error.

If you hear the singing and don't help the boy will not make it :(

I really dont know which step I did first... :-) I remember talking to Dori and the other boy and got robbed. Entered the cave and got my things back from Mol. He asked me to steal the idol - I denied and than I walked to the beach heard the singing beat the Harpies, rescued the boy and went up to the hatch and read everything and picked up all things. Then the objective was: Talk to Mol. I went back. The boy I resuced was in the cave too. He gave me a story he created involving me and the rescue and when I talk to Mol there is no option for closing the questline.

Thinking back, the one time the flag didn't clear for me was when I was supposed to find Mol because I was a victim of theft and I had helped a kid at the beach. There are kind of two parallel quests to find Mol running at the same time. I've never asked the little thieves if they needed help. You could try completing find Mol for the pickpocket quest before going to the beach. But really it won't hurt to just leave that quest open. Don't stress about whether it is cleared or not.

Thank you for your reply. I checked my savegames.... I need to go back like 7 hours of gameplay to start things again before the quest..... Dont know if its worth it. Do you know or somebody what triggers the bug? Should I dont talk to the kid on the entrance or clear the beach quest first? Or not getting pickpocket?

Just another info. I loaded a previous save not so far away and I let the boy die. No the quest is marked as "completed". Is this quest important? I like it more if its that way completed as open the whole game through...?

Damn... I was so upset about the quest not triggered as complete that I deleted my whole campaing and will start all over. Not only because of that but I wanted to start over anyway... So any tipps how I can prevent this next time? I mean the bug? My plan is to help all children and in the end I will help the boy at the beach and after everything I want to meet wil Mol for the first time... Sounds good? :-)

i had this bug in my last playthrough happen as well after doing everything mol related before meeting her ... could be just rng at this point :P

it wont effect anything down the line though, just that the quest will show up in the quest log uncompleted (might auto resolve itself after finishing act 2)

I really think about playing Red Dead Redemption 2 again and coming back after a few more patches... :-) So its not clear what causes the bug to happen?

I wouldn't count on the bug ever being fixed. Having the quest still open just doesn't have any negative effects. It doesn't cause the game to crash, doesn't break any quests. So far I haven't seen a sequence of events identified which would cause it to fail to close or not.
