Don't sacrifice Gale to BOOAAL *SPOILERS (Game Breaking Bug)
I encountered a game breaking bug when sacrificing Gale to BOOAAL. He was my least favourite companion so was an easy choice for the nice permanent buff to my party. He was just as annoying in death as he was in life so I figured I would resurrect him later so I didn't have to put up with him for a couple days.

After trying to open his pouch well into Act 2 I automatically got a Quest Complete for his In Case of Death quest, and wasn't able to loot the letter or flute from it. After travelling back to the Act 1 map I was able to loot the items and activate the necessary cutscene to get his scroll. But after going back to BOOAAL and trying to resurrect Gale, I found that he could not be resurrected, picked up or anything you can normally do with a dead companion. My guess is that he's no longer flagged as a companion at that point.

At the very next long rest I'm met with a long black screen followed by a Game Over. I take very few long rests due to being a Bard and having a Monk and Warlock in my party so I ended up losing 18 long hours to this bug.

A HUGE oversight from Larian. I've sent them a bug report. In the meantime, I know we all hate Gale, but DO NOT sacrifice him! It's better off leaving him in the portal. I regret not hacking his arm off as the Dark Urge :steamfacepalm:

We really don't "all hate Gale". It's a weird minority of people who do. Now cue that loud minority being loud about me labeling them a minority.

Less an oversight more a "working as intended". :MHRISE_OK:

It´s not a bug. Gale even warns you about this but I assume you skipped his dialoges.

If you kill Gale his netherese orb in his chest will errupt after a few days (I think it´s three days) and that will end your game due to the magnitude of the erruption and since you can´t revive someone who has been sacrificed to BOOOAL there is no way back once he has been sacrificed.

He is basically a nuke so don´t kill him. If you really don´t want him in your team just leave him in the portal at the beginning of the game.

Seems more like a player oversight.

As durge you can kill him at the portal.
Gale Is reasonable if you ignore him even without respec. He can stay at camp both if you do evil or good stuff and ignore his quests and cast ritual spells. He can give a +3 movement stone.

So it’s intended you can’t resurrect him despite that being his quest?

I was aware of what would happen as this is my second run. My intention was to revive him eventually. I just wasn’t aware BOOAAL sacrifices couldn’t be resurrected. But I’m defo leaving him in the portal for my 3rd run :steammocking:

Yes. Once a character has been sacrificed to BOOOAL there is no way back.

I know. I should’ve done that and sacrificed Wyll instead :steamfacepalm:

Gale will also leave if left alone with his magic items problem or when Elminster is denied access.

I didn’t hate Gale personally. He was just my least favourite. But now I’m fully in the hate Gale camp given he’s bricked my save :steamsad:

So you sacrifice a guy for personal gain, and it's his fault somehow...:P

Gale’s a homie now that his romance bug is fixed and I know never to speak to his body double in camp. Lae’zel on the other hand… I sacrificed the frog and have no regrets
