How do you reset hotbars?

So I'm sure this has been asked before because I can't be the first to have this issue.
But I can't find the answer so here it goes:

The longer the game goes on the messier the items tab of the hotbar gets, with empty gaps where consumables were and no apparent ordering by type etc.
I've tried to lock and unlock the hotbar but I can't find a way reset the hotbar. Only manually dragging and dropping items seems to work and that's not fun. Frankly, I don't use the hotbar for items anymore, I just open the inventory screen instead.

If there's a hotkey I'm missing or something, please let me know.

I`m not sure if you can reset the hotbar itself IN GAME, but there are settings for it in the game menu. You can make it so the usable items WONT be added to hotbar automatically. Just go to Interface tab in the options menu.

Unfortunately, you can't reset the hotbar to it's original layout. You have to drag a move everything in the order you want.

However, you can go the the Interface tab in the settings and select what gets or don't get added to the hotbar. This way you can prevent potions and other misc. items from cluttering your hotbar.

Yes, I have turned all the auto-add to hotbar settings OFF.

However, that does not help when you switch weapons as it removes the old weapon skills and plops the new ones down wherever. It would be nice if it at least remembered where the already set positions were so when I changed back, the skills would be back in place. :/
