What class compliments humans best?
Humans are the most versatile race, they can do any role and make it work. But with all their racial bonuses which class benefits the most from the human bonuses?

Is it Warlock? The extra skill proficiency in one of the charisma skills, the civil militia weaponry for binding pact weapons and the extra carry weight is always appreciated. Nothing goes to waste from the human bonuses.

Or is it Cleric? The extra proficiency point can go where needed, the civil militia proficiency can give them more variety than just maces and the carry weight is also utilized possibly more so on a Cleric because Clerics are more well rounded in their stat distributions so some strength points translate into a higher carry weight yield and allows them to carry more potions to toss at downed teammates.

Or is it something else entirely?

The only two classes that I don't think benefit much from being human are the Fighter and Barbarian because the civil militia goes unused, they already have those weapon proficiencies standard through the class choice so it's a wasted racial trait.

A bit off topic, but I think there is a mod on Nexus for the Human Variant that gives back the extra feat, not a fan of the 5e human nerf.

Yeah, playing as a human is more of an aesthetic choice than a gameplay one. Elves and half elves are the most popular races by players because it gives legitimate gameplay bonuses without taking away from the look of the character.

That extra skill with proficiency with light armor and shields is very good for casters. Maybe take sleight of hand so you don't have to take Astarion with you.

Anything other than Wizard or Sorcerer is a massive waste, including Warlock (mostly). Warlocks already get Light Armor, and as I remember (but didn't check just now, so could be wrong), if you bind a weapon, you automatically get proficiency in that specific weapon. It's marginally useful if you're not going Pact of the Blade, but still mostly a waste of a feature. This is why I hate this nerf

Or just go download the racial ASI mod, and literally every class benefits from human, as it should.

Wizard or Sorc I'd say. Shield and Light Armor proficiency is handy, and the extra carry weight matters more on a low strength build.

Humans are supposed to be the most versatile race in the game, but since every race gets +2 +1 to everything now, humans only get a little extra carrying capacity, an extra proficiency in a skill, light armor, polearms and shield proficiency.

Basically they can only make full use of EVERY ability if they are a sorcerer or a wizard. They can make full use of of shield for things like warlocks, rangers, rogues or bard since every other class gets shield proficiency.

Basically they are the worst race in the game.

The problem with humans in this game is that they are just inferior half-elves mechanically.

*nods*

Plain human is, mechanically, not great at all.

Human (variant) is top-tier with the extra feat, but isn't included in BG3 vanilla despite being in the PHB. My munchkinness tends to have me favor custom lineage (+2/+0 instead of +1/+1, darkvision instead of an extra proficiency) from TCE, but that's also not in BG3 w/o mods. If there's an appropriate half-feat for your intended build, custom lineage makes it possible to start with an 18 in it even using standard array or point buy.

100% I love that mod, restores it to what I grew up with.

Would be cool to have 5 feats with Rogue.

I feel humans are too boring in D&D. The shields are nice tho. But yes I'd second Wiz or Sorc for the shield.

You can't even make full use of Monk because they need to be unarmored and almost any weapon you're proficient with can be a monk weapon....but not if it's a 2-handed weapon, which rules out halberds and polearms.

You grew up with 5th edition DnD? That's adorable, kid.

I am actually playing a human monk right now, lol. But it's more for the role play than min maxing.

That is true and I prefer playing as a Drow due to the fact that they get better dark vision as well as being proficient in Hand crossbow.
