no game is like this, so far it is the first turn-based game with modern graphics and old dnd/rpg mechanics.

Divinity: Original Sin / Divinity: Original Sin 2
Solasta
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

Long story short: Baldur's Gate 3 is at the moment without real competition.
There are many games which share elements and this and that but none to combine them all to what Baldur's Gate 3 has nor to that quality.

Divinity: Original Sin 2 is the closest when it comes to general gameplay and Solasta is the closest when it comes to D&D rules tactical combat. Bonus for Solasta are the community created and driven campaigns and really good combat. But on the roleplay front it is not worth mentioning when compared to Baldur's Gate 3.

If you want to play something great give Chrono Trigger and Star Ocean Second Story R a look.

If you want more isometrics RPG go for Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous and/or Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire

I really enjoyed it. It wasnt my favourite RPG of all time (that spot still is retained by KOTR as I felt the story was better, although I might be looking back with rose tinted spectacles on that one).

But it is very well done overall. The visuals are good, the story is enjoyable. The production value is excellent. I have no hesitation recommending this game and think it is worth picking up. Why not buy it via steam and play it for two hours, you should work out pretty quickly whether it is for you. If not, you can just refund it, nothing lost expect for 2 hours of your time worse case scenario.
Solasta is a bit janky but if you don't want fantastic voice acting and graphics but good gameplay they did fantastic on gameplay!

Divinity: Original Sin 1 & 2 is there by the same studio. We Pillars of Eternity 1&2, both are great, the second one, Deadfire is a lot more refined; we have the Dragon Age series, with Origin being the best by far, 2 was decent and featured the most entertaining protagonist of the series, Inquisition also had some great moments; we have the Pathfinder games by Owlcat, those are much more about min-maxing the endless build possibilities, and they are not fully voiced, so they are more old-school in this regard; there is Neverwinter Nights 2, an absolute gem, Mask of the Betrayer is one of the best expansions ever created; we have... well, a lot.

I would say if you are looking for the same feel that BG3 has, go for Dragon Age: Origins / NWN2, if you are more in the turn-based combat mechanics (DA:O being real time with pause), opt for Divinity: Original Sin 2 or Pillars of Eternity 2 (if you are into pirates ^^)

I deny any Dragon Age beyond the Origins Ultimate game... Dragon Age met its early end with the sequel. Rest in peace grey wardens...

You are not wrong, the sequels felt like their own entities (and not in a good way, they were a definite step down). especially with how the design has been changed, both for gameplay approach and aesthetics.

If you like presentation…, try Alan Wake 2. Totally diffrent genre and style, but high production values like bg3!

^ This only factors in if you use graphics as the primary characteristic for judgement. If not there are as good and better games.

I can agree with this.

It's not on Steam, though, so don't bother searching for it here, OP.

Turn based CRPGs that are anywhere near recent in terms of release date do seem to be lacking in supply from what I can see.

Hell I can only think of about 6 in total, and for 3 of them the turn based mode is tacked on and not the core of the game design.

Solasta has far more replayability thanks to its dungeon creator, meaning you can play pretty nice campaigns built by players, which also means you can find extremely low quality ones too.
So overall, Solasta is better than BG3. Graphisms and voice acting are irrelevant to judge a rpg, its game mechanics and replayability are.
