Trident of the Waves and Flail of Ages...
Just something I thought of looking at these two weapons.

https://bg3.wiki/wiki/Trident_of_the_Waves

https://bg3.wiki/wiki/Flail_of_Ages

Trident of Waves creates water on hit, making the enemy wet. Glacial Flail of Ages applies chilled status on hit. Wet + Chilled = a chance to become frozen. Frozen makes enemies vulnerable to bludgeoning damage, which the flail does.

Dual Wielder feat to hold the flail in the main hand and the trident in the off hand. Use bonus off-hand strike first, then go in for main hand attacks. Use Winter's Clutches gloves to apply even more chances to freeze, as both weapons do cold damage. Boots of Stormy Clamour to reduce enemy constitution every hit with Reverberation, increasing the freeze chance further.

Warlock 5 / Paladin 5 / Fighter 2. Extra attacks from Paladin and Pact of the Blade stack, totaling 3 in 1 round. 6 attacks if you Action Surge. 9 Attacks if you're Hasted by an ally.

That's a lot of chances to freeze. Assuming whatever you're hitting can even live through that many hits and Reverb stacks. Max Reverb stacks also deal thunder damage, which which frozen also makes the enemy vulnerable to.

A fun interaction with the trident of waves is also the sparky boots, water electrified instantly on strike, could dual weird tridents I guess take along the one that gives you stacks.
Although if your goal is water ice I'd suggest Mourning Frost off hand then when you swing it auto swings wet then ice, as the staff does ice damage on all attacks this would likely cause icy patches to though paired with the gloves could be an interesting combo.

An interesting interaction with the reverb boots if you goal is to stack it, a thief with the acid ring makes every single attack add reverb, with bonus attacks and if you cross class into anything with multi attack is minimum 4 attacks that reverb, 5 if you chose gloom stalker on the first turn only. Even ranged attacks, I prefer hand crossbows.

Interesting idea. I don't think the Sparky trident does lightning damage on it's own though, other than the +1 from lightning charges being active. Wouldn't amount to much damage I think.

Charge-Bound Hammer does 1d6 lightning damage, so you could make it work with that.

Nah it wouldn't do much, which is why I think ice staff is better, but +2 charges per attack isn't bad if you don't happen to have both weapons yet. The issue being the water weapon as it's end game vs everything else lol
I think water/lightning is a better choice cuz you can have a ring of shock immunity, but if you wear the boots that resist ice slips then you can't reverberate.
Ice on the other hand has more buffs with the gloves.... might try both for fun when I get to it!

I still prefer my Trident of Ice +1 (1d8 same as versatile).

It gives creates frozen patch under enemies it hits and causes an extra 1d4 cold damage.

That is not what make this trident special, it has the weight of a dagger and the size of a pole arm weapon. So it has Reach, is a Two handed weapon only, Light class, Melee (not finesse). The main feature is the move Shout_Whirlwind which has a chance to hit all the enemies in range. The final feature is StatusImmunity(PRONE_ICE) so you never slit on your own ice. You are still slowed like everyone else but the CC makes the weapon great for crowds.
