If you bring Shadowheart to free the Nightsong, you're given a persuasion check to convince her not to do it. I don't know if your relationship needs to be high enough for it to be an option, but you can talk her out of it, and she stays in your party. But if you straight up don't bring her along, then she'll just leave.

I just decided to trust her, and she chose not to kill the Nightsong on her own, though she had major second thoughts. It might have to do with what choices you've made and your relationship to her to that point.

There is almost no reason for Shadowheart to leave your group unless you ignore her completely in regards of the Nightsong quest.

You need a high enough relationship with her to get the persuasion option with the Nightsong. Not sure how high it needs to be exactly.

Kill her and she will be unable to leave, because she'll be dead. Then get a hireling to replace her. It'll have much better stats than her default stats, and it'll be much less annoying.
