Umbral Gem Madness - Is there a Work-around???

So apparently it's possible to lose one of the required Umbral Gems (and I managed to do so). I've gone back over the gauntlet with a fine tooth comb and there simply is no sign of the missing gem. Is there any way to spawn a new one? Someone said that a knock spell can be used if the last gem is missing but I also have scoured the lands for a knock scroll and there is none to be found for love or money.

Oof that sucks. Idk about workarounds but did you legitimately search everywhere? Check merchants, corpses, camp chest and any containers on your characters or camp chest

Just load older saves until you find it. Then try to work out where you might have left it.

I've done allot of side quests and plan to go back when I've found a gem or a knock spell

It does suck. I've been running around the world cleaning up side tasks and rooting around corners hoping to at least find a knock scroll

You can only get 3 gems from the gauntlet. You get the 4th gem from Orthons lair. It's on the ground near Yurgir.

I missed the one at the beginning of the gauntlet... maybe you missed that getting past all the traps? I did the three tasks and was stumped for ages. Good luck!

Thanks for the replies everyone. I scoured the place many times. Then I suddenly found it in the vicinity of Orthons lair, just lying out in the open. Very odd, but a relief. I had searched there at least 3 times before that.

Two of the four gems can be hard to find. The one in self same trial, and the one in Yurgir's lair. Highlight key will help you find them.

But the thing is, the umbral gems are orange border quest items. You CAN'T lose them - you can't accidentally sell them or throw them away.

Seems like the one people always miss is the one in the orthon lair. I've missed it myself, and I *knew* it was there.

Download the BG3 Cheat Engine table and give yourself an Umbral Gem.
