Short answer: Nope

Long answer: I just played a Chosen D'urge to the finale and hated every minute of what the D'urge wanted to do (which I allowed) and what the D'urge was required to do for being Chosen. In 5e, what's required to become a Lich and maintain being a Lich doesn't appeal to me even for playing a character like that much less being a person like that.

Lich are not being manipulated by murder hobbo god too..... they are just wizard seeking a way to study magic for a longer time than what their body can survive....

What's required in 5e to become and stay a Lich isn't worth it. It takes a special kind of horrible to put "I want to read books" above people's souls, much less "I want more power".

A 5e Lich survives by taking souls.

Conquering the world as Lich would probably the least interesting thing to do. Things would hardly change or develope in a domain of undead. Conservative political parties can do that, no need for a Lich lord.

Maybe in a world of constant war. Creating a common enemy to unite mankind and bring peace is an option.

Other than that an afterlife with adventure is sure welcome as well.

Imagine, you become a lcmich just to play games and have fun, raise your friends fom the dead so you can have boys/girls nights, you don't do anything naffarious rofl

I'll pass. Directly from the Monster Manual; Liches are inherently evil, insane, loners, sacrifice living souls of others to feed their phylactery, and are single-minded in their pursuit of further power.

Isn't that the story behind squidward, from the society of brilliance when you ask him? Lol he worked with a lich who needed souls, and he needed brains so it was mutually beneficial, and they only did it to those who were known for evil?

Which is a much better game than Baldur's Gate 3 and does a much better job at allowing us to roleplay and being closer to both BG1 and BG2.
