A Hollyphant
https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Hollyphant
They also had an alternative form that they could take, that of a large, 12‑foot-tall (3.7‑meter), bipedal mastodon with shaggy, black fur, huge leathery wings, and massive curved tusks. In this form, they weighed about 1,200 pounds (540 kilograms).[3]
In their small form, the golden fur of these elephantine creatures seemed to glow.[5][3] Because of the aura surrounding one, any good creature observing a hollyphant felt a fondness toward it, while any evil creature felt immediate loathing and fear.[5]
Some scholars made speculations that a hollyphant's appearance was a projection of some kind and that they were actually spirits with a different true appearance, since surely no creature would look so goofy in reality.[4] Hollyphants took great offense at such an idea,[4] and anyone who had ever looked upon them with true seeing saw only both of their elephantine forms simultaneously.
The fact that he drinks heavily and smokes a pipe is just icing on top.
BTW - YooJoo - if you are seeing this, I've admitted several times you were correct - it wasn't the same holyphant in BG3. :)
The game wasn't a cartoon before that thing appeared. So why switch styles suddenly? It also speaks like a cartoon character when Hollyphants are telepathic.
I did not want such clumsy comedy relief that destroys the game's atmosphere. It turns the whole Murder Tribunal of Bhaal into a stupid joke.
And she appears right after the painted ghoul clown on the streets. The beginning of Act III flopped hard.
Tip to Larian: if you want to lighten up the atmosphere, you can do comedy relief with human or any other PC race characters without changing styles. Use a Jennifer Coolidge type character.
They're a celestial being, inherently good-aligned and generally awful to be around. Any more questions?
Yup, sounds like a cartoon character alright.
but you are right that space dogs comment was unnecessary.
I don't know why people want to act like a game specialist.
It's currently one of the most purchased and played on Xbox. It is one of the highest rated games on steam. It has pretty reliable concurrent player count even months after releasing, it swept the GotY awards and the Golden Joystick awards in a year filled with great games, in addition to having the best monetization practice you can have in a game, meaning you buy it and you own it, no extra charges, no missing content, no microtransactions at all.
It is simply the most successful game this year, bar none.
