When do I first see the Guardian?

When I got my first voluntary parasite, I was told I need a Long Rest to take advantage of it. It was my first one, but I never got the Guardian visit I needed. So... when is it?

I was on the way to the camp when I encountered some Eternalists whose dying leader had the parasite.

I hear you saying that the first encounter is scripted to occur if I follow the "good" path and rescue the druid leader from the goblin camp.

So I could kill the druid and it will still happen?

When you get close enough inside the goblin camp you will trigger a plot specific scene.

After this scene, your next long rest will trigger the Guardian to reveal the first stages of plot dump on you

Also if you skip the goblin camp, it'll trigger as you're about to enter the Mountain Pass (this is probably the "evil" path being implied where you don't bother helping at all). I would assume they would force trigger it in the Underdark before you enter Act 2 if you don't do either of the above, but I haven't tested that out yet.
