How does this game run on 2019 Mac Ventura?
Got a 2019 MacBook Pro. Can anyone vouch for performance?

[Edit] Sorry had to update. I actually am running Ventura I just forgot the name of the current OS off the top of my head.

Well :

MINIMUM:
OS: macOS 12 or newer

What do you think? OS 10 is 2 full versions and 2 years out of date from the minimum.

I strongly recommend against trying to play this game on that rig

In that case, it is a 'Maybe'.

BG3 is notoriously hard on Laptop systems due to the high CPU & GPU usage. It is more a problem of cooling and power usage than it is the raw ability of the hardware to do the job.

Only way to really know is to try it. GoG has a 30 day refund policy if the Steam 2 hour one is not going to be adequate.

I respectfully disagree with the other poster about trying it.

But I do agree that this is a demanding game and most laptops are not going to be ideal for it.

I am glad you have a somewhat recent Mac and there's a lot of things you can do with it. Running some of the most intensive and recent games might no be among them.

One example is even if you get through a portion of the game and it somehow does okay. You still have act 3 to deal with. And that's a very long section indeed. I may not have a 4090 but my desktop PC is more powerful than all but the loudest vocal minority. And even so, I have issues keeping the fps at 60 in the final act.

Keep in mind, I am not saying this to be discouraging or negative. I'm the first to admit if I turn out to be wrong. And yes there is a 2 hour refund window. It's just that your laptop is going to get very hot. And if you aren't okay with less than probably 30fps in situations. You might want to wait on Baldur's Gate.

While my MacBook Pro is more recent (2021) I was previously playing BG3 just fine while using Monterey, and only recently updated to Ventura. So far it seems to be running just fine even on ultra. Not sure how much of a difference the M1 chip makes performance-wise, although I'd guess quite a bit.

Yeah it's the M1 chip that worries me. I think this would be a safer bet to get on PS5 then lmao
