99% of this (and other BG series) games success is due to the fact that they follow as close as possible, AD&D or, in case of BG3, D&D 5e rules. And no, we need no-one to limit player power. We need games to follow canon rules of games we loved before there were even computers and if needed, increase enemy count or power. Actually, nowadays, we need ANYTHING to be strict to CANON and stop corrupting history. If you think you're overpowered increase the difficulty level and play at tactician level, or the new Honour Level, that should make you feel less powerful or even frustratingly weak. Or, simply, add a mod that increases difficulty per your choice (there is at least one around).
And as for the main story being linear... It is everything but that, given the numerous endings and deviations it may have. Actually more than any game I can remember.
BG3 is a less faithful adaptation of 5e D&D than Solasta is.
And the story is very linear, it only presents the player with the illusion of choice. 17,000 endings? 🙄🤭
That's basically what I do and it's so fun. Every game is going to have a meta loadout or three. But trying to make weaker things work is fun as hell
Yup! You have to improvise and encounters are always different and sometimes you run for your life, other times you win by the skin of your teeth lol. More exciting than repeating the same OTK combos/high ground/barrel stacking cheese... coupled that with not breaking character and suddenly it's not that easy...
To be fair, I did end up using a runepowder barrel for the big gith fight
I was badly wounded and everyone but Shart was down for the count
So she dropped it, chugged a bottle of speed, and ran off before flinging a fire bolt at it. Tactical nuke saves the day
As a last resort it's fine i guess... like an insurance... xD
Am on my way to the creche and a bit scared... lol
