Stupid Rolls on Honour Mode
Hi,

Because of the stupid rolls in Honour mode don't be surprised if you can not free Shadowheart on the ship. That is what happened to me one time and I needed to restart because of closing off the initial option before I decide on whether or not to do a solo a run.

Thanks,

Aaron

Wha? Having shadowheart makes it easier to drain a bit more exp from the zhalk encounter, but shes by no means necessary. At all.

There's a rune in the other room that releases her without having to pass your class-relevant check.

Not to mention, not freeing her is irrelevant; she shows up on the beach regardless, just in slightly different spot.
Does this even make sense?

Only class that can open the pod without the eldritch rune is barb
Even then, with the rune its still a check to open the pod, if you roll a nat1 you fail.

I feel like I did it as Warlock too. But the only major difference in freeing her or not is a minor approval gain

Warlocks, Sorc, and Wizards, at least, can pass an Arcana check to skip the rune.

As for OP's issue, there is a 5% chance they failed the Wisdom check. Chances are they're complaining about failing one of the class-specific rolls, and simply didn't realize the rune exists.

Errr you know you can still recruit her right after the ship crash right?

Also rolls in honor mode is not the problem, the problem is whenever the game crash mid-save and corrupt your save files forever

Let me explain a bit more! You can release her with the rune but if you choose to investigate the device that is where the rolls come in, Sorry for the confusion.

These forums for the next few months are going to be just like the Diablo forums over the years when people complained about things on hardcore mode without understanding the ramifications (and appeal) of hardcore mode.

It's not even that, it's just someone being pissy about a failed skill roll and blaming it on honor mode for some weird reason

The thing is, it kinda doesn't matter which roll you were talking about. The whole point of Honor mode is that if the rolls don't go your way, you accept the consequences and deal with it.

Fail to save Shadowheart? Guess she'll be annoyed at you when you find her later. Fail on all the rolls to rescue Gale? You don't get him. It's probably not going to be a "perfect" run; the point is trying to succeed despite the failures along the way.

If that were true, then they would use seeds for die rolls.

Honor mode (aside from the changes to stats and abilities) is single save.

That's it. If your party tpk's, then the save file is converted to a Custom game with no way to go back.

That's it.

Up until that point, you can.save scum as much as you want to.

Yeah that's part of it, several threads already. More will come as more people try honour mode. I lost a game due to losing power, sucked but lucky it was only like 10 hours in. I've got two campaigns going now just in case. But I'm also doing a regular play through, not just trying to complete the game quickly or efficiently so a little more risk for me but that's the point of me playing it.
