Unintuitive control on the gamepad [Necrotic laboratory puzzle]

After I activated the puzzle in the Necrotic Lab I can interact with Mind, Emotion, Memory or Cantrips, but I can't activate the neural connection point further because I just don't understand how to select and activate it (gamepad). After spending a lot of time I had to use the mouse.
