Combat and action sounds don’t play in cutscenes?

I started this forever ago, got busy and never made it very far, picked it up again and had no idea what I was doing so I started over again. I noticed that in cutscenes certain voices and sounds don’t play now? For example when you’re escaping the ship and there’s the Tieflings fighting there’s no sound effects or voices in that sequence for me.

I’ve tried verifying my files and they all check out fine and there’s nothing weird with my audio settings. I’m on a Steam Deck if that helps. Any advice would be much obliged, thank you! I tried looking around but the posts I saw seemed primarily around having no sound period.

I wish I had an answer, but I have the same issue. I've tried both Linux and Windows 11 using both headphones and laptop speakers and adjusting windows 11 sound settings, extremely frustrating.

It's specifically Sound Effect sound is muted in the entire game. Even in combat when you attack you don't hear weapons as well as in cutscenes.

Found that fix. Appears when the game updates it doesn't properly clean the game of old data files. Go to Baldur's Gate 3 directory then Data directory and delete any patch 4 hotfix .pak files.
