Speedy Lightfoot - Worth it or just a headache to get value out of?
I can see where it is nice if you HAVE to dash twice in a rogue to get where you need to be, but 90% of the time, I can get in position without dashing and just attack normally. So I find it hard to justify wearing them at all when I have boots that give more consistent passives.

What do you guys think about them? I find stuff like this more of an annoyance to actually use. But maybe I am using them wrong?

There aren't many good boots at that point of the game, so I don't know why it wouldn't be worth it.
The diggers don't put up that much of a fuss over them.

Rogues can't even wear them, at least without racial / feat proficiencies.

Since you asked, my Rogue is Dual Hand Crossbow ranged specialist so he seldom has to travel far. What he DOES have is Freedom of Movement boots. Even more important is the Alert feat. So he ALWAYS goes first and is NEVER Surprised.

Worth it in terms of actually trying to trigger the passive. Guess it works better if you are a melee rogue instead of ranged rogue. As for all my melee companions, they all have much better boots in terms of giving consistent value. (Springstep, and linebreaker)

The water ones might actually be better for my ranged character, now that I am thinking about it. At least then I can toss some water on the ground and splash around in the puddle for charges, without giving up actions. Guess I need to go find who I sold those to. Fml

gloomstalker/rogue, to be more specific, for my case.

I gave them to my Wildheart/Thief (Eagle/Stallion) Karlach. She could rage and dash on the same turn, gain temp hp, and lightning charges.

Not worth it.

oh I got my boots mixed up, I thought you were talking about the ones the gnome stole that let you dash as a bonus action.
was wondering what purpose that would serve a rogue to begin with

At that point in the game they are pretty good for a thief since you have 2 bonus action and even if you don’t get to the 5 charges threshold for the extra 1-8 damage, you still get a +1 to attack rolls, which can make the difference

They're basically placeholders for a LOT of builds and classes, until you get better options later own the line.

Healer builds end up wanting Boots of Aid & Comfort which are pretty easy to get.

Lightning DPS wants Watersperklers paired with Sparkwall to constantly generate lightning charges much more passively while getting immunity to Electrocuted.

Boots of Speed are just great in general and cost a single antidote.

Stormy Clamour Boots are just stupid on multiple builds since condition stacking is the name of the game for higher difficulties.

So it's nice to have for the 5 minutes it's relevant, then they make a great Gale snack or a quick 100gp.
