Set your save file as read only (unless the game replaces the entire file when updating a save, if it does that method likely won't work)

instead. I read that it sometimes still saves when killed via task manager, or at least tries to.

I've been finding pretty hard to get a TPKO when using companions, and i've been roleplaying a very unoptimized build
That happens only if people use the taskmanager wrong, though.
