Honor mode keeps crashing

So, I've read somewhere yesterday about people crashing while trying to load a new game with the Honor Mode but I didn't pay attention since I didn't try myself. I was already busy trying to fix a bug regarding the Epilogue. But now that I have uninstalled every single mod and the new Steam Achievement, I wanted to load a new save, but it keeps crashing when the loading gets to 33%. Giving the fact that I already spent a couple hours trying to fix another bug, I'm getting bummed a bit. Did I forget something when I uninstalled the mods?

Try this

App data/local/LarianStudios/ Baldur's Gate 3/

Delete modsettings.lsx in Mods folder

and then go to Player profiles/public. Delete modsettings.lsx

Load the game after and see if it crashes

i CAN'T EVEN TRY HONOR MODE. Update #5 will not install. I have plenty of disk space. I uninstalled from Steam and tried 3 times yesterday and twice so for today. Steam says it is out but it is NOT installing the updated game. Just the same game I have been playing since purchase. GRRRRRR

Should I demand a refund??

If you've played more than 2 hours, you're not getting a refund lmao. Especially after the game has been officially released for months. Asking now would be silly

Already did, multiple times. Even tried again after seeing your message just to be sure. But it still crashes. When I open the Launcher, I have a message about Data Mismatch. I then did everything that was suggested on Larian's support page to fix this, but I still get the message after doing so and it still crashes at the exact same place in the loading. I have read and done about like 3 completely different approach that people confirmed it worked for them. It is still pretty early in the patch so I keep my hopes up, but damn, my hype for Honor Mode is quickly dwindling because of this amount of bugs and crashes happening.

I can play it but during the crypt fight the game just crashed out of the blue for the first time ever for me and I have 500+ hrs on the game.

Had to reset the entire fight beucase the game also doesn’t seem to be saving often enough..

I also encounter strange things like if I wipe out some enemies, next time I get to the area they are just standing alive and then die as I approach.

Probably the new system is continuously checking things and this causes it to crash .

Not sure about not being able to even start though , never had an issue to start a game

It's ok now, I re-did the whole process and saw that I forgot to remove 1 file. But now, even tho I do not have the Data Mismatch warning anymore, I still can't start a new game in Honor Mode. I can start a Tactician game or load my non modded game, but not Honor... The next thing I'm gonna do is uninstall/reinstall later this evening.

I was having this issue as well. Anytime I tried to start a new game with Honor Mode it would crash during the initial loading screen. I tried validating install and uninstall/reinstall but the issue persisted.

However updating my graphics drivers worked for me!

you may try to get a refund if the game does not work due to updates by talking to a person. The 2hr rule is for automatic no questions asked refunds. If I were taking your case (I don't work at steam etc, just saying) I would insist you report the issue and wait 2 weeks. If it still does not work, depending on other factors (including hours played) I might grant it.

Idk if this will be of any help but all I had to do was move the "Honor" file that magically appeared in my BG3MM into the load order. Also, if you hit ctrl + P, click script extender and enable dev mode, then go to updates and select the top v9, save settings, reload bg3mm, save settings again to be safe, export to game, launch via bg3mm, after it starts exit and go back to the mod manager and refresh and hover over the little game piece icon next to some mods to check what version you have. v10 and v11 have caused a lot of issues. Just do that for now until the rest of the mod community catches up. Hope that helps!

This worked for me. The files were created on each startup of bg3 though, so I had to delete them after starting. Additionally I deleted the AppData\Local\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3\Mod folder.

Patch 5 was so great, well for old saves, Trying to start a new honour mode no no no, sometimes it works, 1 out of 12 opens but so annoying that even without mods or anything to mess it up it just hits that 33% on the loading screen then decides to die/

Did you happen to be using cloud saving/one-drive and/or a mod manager to install for you?
