So, Honor Mode
For those who tried - how is it implemented, pertaining to saving and loading?
I can't yet try it myself hence the question.

It states "perma death" - but what does that mean? Does it mean no loading previous saves? Are they just deleted or something? If so, then what's preventing players from backing saves up each time before they boot the game and they if they TPK and the game deletes those saves, just restore the backup and go from the last point?

Or is it something else?

It means if you die Honour mode is over. You can continue your campaign but the difficulty will be set to Custom and you have to reload your last save. I tested that this morning briefly by creating a new game and dying in the first fight on the Nautiloid to see what it said about difficulty.

You only get one save, if you wipe you get two options... continue into "dishonored mode" or end your run right there. Now I am not sure if continuing let you find all the new stuff like the crazy new boss encounters because I died and started again lol.

From what I've read it seems it was released as an honest challenge mode, which is perfectly fine considering custom allows you to set your difficulty almost however you want.
Honestly the fact it has a reward for meeting the challenge is neet but recolored D20s aren't that big of a deal so it's mostly if you wish to challenge yourself.

That doesn't answer my question though?

What happens if I:

1. Start to play in HM
2. Save my game
3. Exit the game
4. Back up my save file, physically (copy it somewhere)
5. Resume the game
6. TPK
7. Exit the game
8. Copy my backed up earlier file from step 4.
9. Launch the game

- will I be able to just pick it up in HM from the last time I backed it up?

... because to know if the future e-peen "I did it in HM" holds any water or it's all pointless anyways and HM is sort of like "saving the game, but with additional hoops".

Try it and find out. You don't even have to leave the Nautiloid to do it.

I mean I guess in theory you could that if you don't wanna play it as it was designed. xD

Me too. But I bet there will be a lot of this flying around on these very forums very soon. Preparing the ground, so to say.

This question automatically puts you in Dishonor Mode.

There's nothing honorable about this question or it's answers.

TF you want Larian to do? Get full root access to your PC and personally scan and delete your data when you die?

Go away, please? I don't even want to start it? Read the "why" if you're so interested, just don't start the flame where it's uncalled for? Pretty please?
Maraxus Nov 30, 2023 @ 2:36pm
I personally want to do it as it was intended because someone at Larian has probably been painstakingly designing this challenge for months for us to enjoy. :D

And if someone gets it in a non intended way well... it's their loss for cheating themselves out of the whole point of playing a game. xD

Is there a way to play with the harder bosses, and extra stuff without it being iron man? Really don't feel like restarting because of bad RNG
