So at any point prior to the final battle, it sounds like? Maybe you have to do a long rest to trigger it.
Is it right before the brain or before the take over of the city?
I would assume that final fight means the final fight, so right before the brain.

The fact it's called an 'epilogue' should make it ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ obvious.
Larian have been unclear in their wording, for sure, but English is not their main language.
That would work, for reasons of it being an epilogue.
Larian's wording was clear, I just couldn't be bothered to replay the whole final fight and I made a save right at the final blow. I was fortunate that I did not have to replay the whole fight.
