I think you have to take every opportunity you can to either save/help Sazza in order to see her at Moonrise. On my other playthrough where i was saving the grove without doing the "trick" you mentioned, i left Sazza in her cage at the grove and came back to it later and she was dead. When i got to Moonrise on that playthrough i didnt see Sazza just some other Goblins. On my evil playthrough i saved Sazza from the grove cage, saved her from Minthara and helped Minthara and the Goblins take the grove. I think i saw Sazza at my camp party but i definetly saw her at Moonrise again.
I had read online that she dies when the Goblin leaders are killed; but the cut scene in the Moonrise towers occurred with Sazza and I was able to spare her. Then the Achievement popped.
I escorted Saz to the camp. Quickly told Minth I'd help with the Grove right after she sent Saz to be put in another cage. (Karl wanted to have a talk, but I ignored her at that time.) Knocked out Saz before she left the area (which started temporarily hostile fight). Killed Minth and the other two. (Gut was taken out quietly before the Dror.) Helped Hals escape without getting into fights with the throne room area—getting pissed drunk on Invis potions. (Karl no longer wanted to have a talk.) Fast travelled to Grove environs. Did all that stuff and had a party (where Lae wanted to lay with Wyll and ended up very disappointed). Murdered the courtyard of the Goblin camp. Took the sneaky way into the temple. Snuck across the rafters to Gut's room.
Down in the throne area of the ruined temple, Sazza was up and about, but non-hostile (among the others who were hostile). I left all of them alone and proceeded.
Sazza was begging for the lives of the Goblins at Moonrise. I let her go. Received a letter from her needing another rescue during the epilogue.
(I got the same letter during my extinction run, too. Lots of weirdness in the lonely epilogue if you manage to kill everyone or get everyone killed.)
