Well, I'm sure you can beat them at lv 5 quite easily, if you are having issues just don't talk to them and sneak attack them from the top of the structure so you can have some free attacks.
Also don't forget your buffs and specially haste your nelee frontliner and it should be quite trivial.
I usually do everything else in Act 1 (including the Underdark) before going into the Mountain Pass area. But it's not necessary -- even though it does make things easier.
The undead fight near the entrance to the Mountain Pass partially serves as a gatekeeper role. The Mountain Pass, Act 2, and the first fight in Act 3 are pretty hard if you rush through Act 1 without leveling.
Thought that was Act 2.
Act 2 is *after* both Mountain Pass and Underdark (do Underdark first). You should be at least Lvl 6 and maybe even Lvl 7 before going into Act 2.
Be sure to explore everything, everywhere if you want to be well geared and leveled up for going into Act 2. :)
Good Luck
Have Fun
You could, unchain Shadowheart, invis sneak her pass the combat, enter Act 2, speed potion her through the Toll House, find the way point and just teleport into act 2.
I have yet to try this but next playthrough this will be how I skip the 40% of the game that is pointless.
Are the Death Shepherds too hard? They are resistant to 'everything' as far as I know, which means half damage ; all damage. There's 2 of them and they revive dead enemies too.
If this is the fight you are having doubts on then see it as a test for what's to come Act 2. Strategic planning is required as the game goes on. I was level 6 my first time getting through this group. If you continue to the right of them you'll find more / easier enemies to fight to get more exp and level up more.
Completing quests helps a lot with leveling; all thought you get exp for fighting and defeating enemies it's lackluster compared to quest exp. Make sure you're completing as many quests as you can before continuing on.
