Does Great weapon fighting style apply to thrown weapons?

Was just wondering, thinking about trying Eldritch knight with tavern brawler and ring of flinging and Gloves of Uninhibited Kushigo.

Haven't tested to see, but Great Weapon fighting description simply defines them as two handed - and there are two handed throwing weapons around - and those often also rate as polearms as well - so various potential combinations.

Melee only, so the +3 Trident - won't work when thrown, but will work when used in melee.

I was referring to just that - a trident works as "Great Weapon" when in melee, also as a thrown weapon (eg Tavern Brawler), and if classified as a polearm (like a spear) could use polearm mastery as well (in melee)
