Is there a chance of future updates, in your opinion?
I haven't finished the game yet, still on Act 3. Does anyone think the game has future DLC potential or add on potential or will they just make a new game? This is my first ever D&D game so I don't know the history of D&D type games or if DLC/Add ons is a thing in this genre.

nothing to do with DnD adapated video games.
Larian itself has never released actual DLCs in their games before.

There have been talks about it in game interviews with devs, but tnothing that would indicate they will totally do a DLC.

Another thread has discussed this in extension here, you can find it with a search if you want more info

Nope, that's not how Larian does things. They may eventually release an "enhanced version" where they include all the content they cut due to time constraints, but you're not going to see any DLC.

If you are interested in more content you can try "Divinity: Original Sin 2" from the same studio. It's not DnD ruleset based but it's definitely also a great game.

Larian always release a Definitive Edition of their games about 1-2 years after initial release. The definitive editions have usually had some fairly major upgrades to the game, especially the endings but also some mechanics. They've never done a DLC.

I'm not totally up to date but the last I've seen from Swen was more in the lines of they are happy when they can move on, as the Project was way larger then they imagined. He seemed not to keen on any major dlcs.
However they expressed there will most likely be smaller things like the gift bags in DOS2. If they come via normal patches or as mini dlcs wasn't clear, however they would almost certainly be free.
Though I could imagine that with the success, wotc will try to put some pressure on Larian to make more...

I've heard they had for their games before DOS, though from my side that's just hearsay. I never doublechecked it. But their last 2 games before BG3 didn't really have paid DLC in the sense of bigger expansions (wasn't sir Lora paid DLC at some point?)

I wonder if the success of the game has made larian reconsider releasing some sort of advanced modding tools to create our own content like neverwinter nights... that would be legendary...

I think they'll take a break, collect proposals, choose the fonds and announce new project in 1-2 years. It's impossible to say now what would it be. As I can remember they annonced some new game in DOS setting after DOS2 but Wotc gave them money and contract for BG3.
So we'll see.

BG1 and BG2 both had great expansion packs around 6 months after release of the base games, so it would be nice to see BG3 carry on that tradition. But game development requires a lot more time and resources these days, so it'd probably be better if Larian focused all their energy on their next major project rather than spread themselves too thin like other studios do.

It doesn't seem likely to me considering that a key selling point of this game is the voice acting and the dialog scenes. However, Solasta does have a module creator and there are a ton of player created adventures available.

Sadly, this is the case. It seems like most games now days, release and just move on. At least BG3 has a lot of replay ability. Some games you finish and it's kind of "what now?" I dun know...from a gamer stand point I'd rather feed a game I own and love than have to buy a new one every few years. Maybe that's just me...
