This is the dying Dwarf and his two followers/slaves in ACT 1 encounter.
I know there is also the one bugbear and the one in the Emerald Grove Lab. Is there another that may have been the original or first introduction to consuming them???
After that every true soul you kill has a tadpole on their corpse that you can loot, and there are also some in the environment, I ended up with something in the mid 20's IIRC, but I have seen people claiming as many as 40. As far as I know I barely missed any, and some people are claiming you get some inventory duplication.
Either way I finished the game "tadpole free". Largest result of it (other than missing out on the tadpole powers) was one of the characters whining at you a few times.
So I have to consume at least One to be able to collect them? Does that just put them in a collection or storage?
How did you end up with 20 if you never consumed any? That is what I am trying to figure out, how to keep them without consuming? Did you consume first and none after that?
(Mechanically they're basically potions that increase your "tadpole counter" currency which you can then spend on illithid upgrade powers.)
