Zhentarim Hideout Problems

So I finally picked up an old quest I got way back in act 1 (in act 2 currently) called "Find the missing shipment". Now, I am in the hideout, I cannot talk to the Zhentarim leader or the trader to free the artist. The option to talk is completely absent and I can't even click on them. I've tried reloading my game, and verifying my files. It just will not let me interact with them.

Sounds like it´s bugged though you won´t miss anything really. The leader just gives you some coin. Just kill them all and take their smokepowder barrels and everything else and then talk to the artist and tell him he is free now.

Have you seen warning screen before you went to Act 2? Like: you should complete unfinished business before you go further?

He missed best 2 heavy crossbows for Act 1-2.

You still get them, I have tested this. It´s just the armor pieces and some other junk you won´t get from the trader inventory once he is dead at least when you kill them during act one. I´m not sure if his trader inventroy gets deleted in act two.

Yes, that is why I went back to finish old quests, I never went in to free nightsong yet

Yea, I have edited my post afterwards because the thing is you get the crossbows during act 1 if you kill them, but I´m not sure if you still get them if you kill him in act 2.

Nightsong quest matters for Act 2 quests not for Act 1 quests. If you are already in Act 2 you can't finish business in Act 1.

I killed the gnolls but didn´t threaten the guys with the chest nor take it. Got an invitation to the hideout and once there and after receiving the coin reward from the female leader I killed them all and took their stuff and got both crossbows and this titanstring bow as well but that one is on a character I think.

I safed my game before I killed them to test this and it´s only the generic armor pieces and the random junk you won´t get from Brems Inventory.

Probably you got "Special Stock" items because you already received award and shippment quest was completed to Zhentarim pleasure.

Oh yes, sorry I forgot to mention this. My bad.

So when I first went in and talked to the trader he didn´t have these crossbows and only after talking to the leader these "special items" got unlocked for me to buy or just take after killing them.

Hmm, in this case op might be out of luck in regards to these items.

Yep. On some playthrough I just show them beholder flask and they attacked. I can't remember for sure but I believe there were no special stock items in the loot.

Yes, you have to talk to the leader first to unlock Brems special offer items and then you can safely kill them all and take their stuff and he will then have said crossbows and some other items as well in his inventory.
