That's because the mechanics are such that the game is pretty much unbalance'able. Either you delete them, or they delete you. There's nothing in between.
Alpha damage is WAY too high, there's far too many actions in a turn, and too many ways to break the AI.

The challenge to these games is building your team correctly to auto-win fights, but most people who play just copy youtubers builds.
I tend to start looking up builds on my 3+ playthrough.
He's obviously running mods and is sorta of broke the game as the squids don't even attack him, they just skip their turn.
I guess that's impressive to the marginally employed.
