It's not like nobody talks about him, but Tim Downie deserves a lot more recognition imo. I absolutely love how he brought Gale to life. His voice is such a perfect match for Gale's intelligent, educated, witty, honest, but slightly living-under-a-rock character. Sometimes boyishly innocent, sometimes carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders, sometimes demanding... All that colour is brought out so well by Tim. In my books he's as good as Neil Newbon, I think the only reason he's getting a bit less attention is bc his character isn't a bad boy like Astarion. But the VA is not any less legendary, imo.
And Raphael is right up there in the Alan Rickman - Benedict Cumberbatch league imo.
Truthfully, I get very bored with the Narrator and the intrusive lines. I don't blame the actress, but she didn't really do anything exceptionally amazing imho. Just quiet reading with a bit of snark at times. It works, but its not stand out. The origins had to do a lot of emotional range, which to me is better to gauge the acting on.
As for extra characters? Minthara is fantastic and deserves MORE attention.. if only she was't stuck behind the 'evil' choice people are so hardup against doing. Raphael was delightful and his actor is very very well known- so not as if he's coming up from no where. I LOVED Abdirak and Kar'niss. I think they were the same.. sounded like the same.. either way.. what a shame not to have them as evil companions. OH! and sweet Barcus Wroot. Makes me sad we couldn't have him as a perma-companion either. :( I like to Imagine him being as our full-time tinkerer/bomb making alchemist.
I can't say there was a voice that I didn't like in the game. Nothing felt phoned in or out of place. People pick on Cazador, but I thought he was fine. Its striking that evil isn't so comically on point. Cazador is a good villain you love to hate and his voice makes you want to punch him even more = Well done job! Thats the point!
Raphael is another voice and character who gets way too little screen time, imo. I friggin' love overly dramatic, a little old-fashioned villains. I'd pay actual money for getting a navigator with his voice.
And Us... damn, they just nailed it. Its lines are so funny and voice/s fits like a glove I've listened its lines so many times I remember them all and can also imitate it quite well. My friends have been very amused.
+1 to Minthara
