If you were a lovecraft fan and not the cthulhu mythos twisting by the ones that followed you wouldn't say that.

Well, if you want a Cthulu, lovecraftian being then the Great Old One is the pact for you.

WotC needs to expand to the outer planes for dnd to have some cthulhu mythos like lore. Beside that obyrith dagon there aren't much lovecraft like horrors. Some but not much.

Lovecraft was very racist, even if CoC 7th was a lot of fun, some of us don't want to play CoC for that reason.

The Cthulhu myth is currently used heavily in games and films.

A real Cthulu hype ...

He was, but so were many, many people. That does not invalidate their creations as long as the creation itself isn't racist. And there are better ways to deal with it than to simply cancel everything they did in life. See Lovecraft County on HBO, where they borrow heavily from mythos to present a story that addresses past racism.

I do my best to separate the artist from the art. An actor may play a part but is not the character they are playing. It’s bad if someone blames the actor for the character, as what happened to Laura Bailey with Last of Us 2, but I believe it is equally bad to judge a book, play or game entirely on the creator’s beliefs as well, (see Vavra and Kingdom Come: Deliverance).

People can do what they will though. I won’t tell them what to do.

Try playing Paranoia. That game is deliberately offensive and satirical to poke fun at that kind of mindset.

I don't need paranoia to play games, if I'm watching the normal stories at the moment, that's perfect.

That's what the Far Realm is for.

Though my headcanon is that each outer plane, in its far reaches, touches the Far Realm.

For example, one of the difficulties with the ascension of Mount Celestia would be the angels getting weirder and weirder. You start with winged humanoids, and you end up with nested flaming wheels of eyes.

George washington was racist, benjamin franklin was racist, ♥♥♥♥ even abraham lincoln had slaves. Does that mean u dont live in usa or use a 5 dollar bill?

Also lovecraft is known for becoming UNRACIST later in his life before he died....

What? Lincoln never had slaves, and at least George Washington freed them when he died. Still wrong to have them, but come on

The Cthulhu Mythos beings were in the old Deities and Demigods handbook, so you can role-play that your Warlock patron is one of them.

Thank you for pointing out how absurd my statement was, but my statement was just as absurd as the original guys example of not liking something because the guy was racist in early life. Everybody born at that time would've been racist ffs. You realize this and love past it
