If you wanna give it a go, I'd say the chances are pretty good that their previous games will go on sale in about a week. While it of course won't be 1-1 with bg3, it should give you an idea on what it's like.
It is D&D turn based which is not the same thing as XCOM turn based at all.
But it is similar to isometric RPG games such as BG1, BG2, WotR, Solasta, and so forth. So, if you really don't like those, you MAY not like BG3 that much.
That being said, I personally don't like those other isometric turn-based RPGs much, but I really DO like BG3 combat. The whole world and story just grabs you and sucks you in such that the combat becomes an equal part along with the exploration and story.
It really is very good. :)
You can't compare larians turn based to other companies turn based, and ESPECIALLY to games that are RTwP (or more specifically, designed around RTwP even if they feature a TB mode).
I enjoy the combat a lot and have saved games before each major fight because I love replaying them with different builds .
Combat is a big part of the game so if you like fast paced action you won’t enjoy the game and are better off playing something more suitable to your preferences
I said 'similar' and made no other comparison. What is your point as it relates to the OP question?
And, how would you know anyway (unless you purchased on GOG)?
Also, don't listen to the Trolls that give you no information other than to just tell you not to play (or to play, for that matter).
Look for legitimate and valid criticisms in order to base your decision upon. :)
And watching some beginner play through videos would be a great way to see what it is about. But will probably see some spoilers as from the start of the game, it is pretty intense. :)
