Bernard doesn't give the Guiding Light ring

Yeah, seems to be a known bug - it should be still on him, you'll just need to steal or loot it.

The ring is now given to the player through the quest reward window, but I'm unsure why some players are not seeing the prompt show up.

Was the playthrough you're on started before Patch #4? Because it worked fine for me on a playthrough started after Patch #4 dropped.

It was started before Patch#4. But a Patch should still have an effect an existing Playthrough, would be stupid if you had to start a new Playthrough after every Patch.

I'm also having this issue in Patch 5, unfortunately. After saying the line, I don't see a quest window and don't get the ring.

This bug occurs in my playthrough too. I said the right textbook lines (all of them, collected with different partymembers but read all with my main character), but only got a potion of greater healing and a hug. An awkward hug. I would prefer the ring over the hug :D! When I said the line for the ring Bernard answers, but gives nothing. It also doesnt appear on the table or in any of my inventorys.

I did get the ring last night, so after the patch5... So it should not be patch5 related and something else.
Interesting to see/know what causes it.

Haven't had a problem with this across multiple patches. Sure you're saying the right lines? I believe its the one you can read on the table next to him

I've found the Threadbare Book item, which contains the line "How can I trust? How will I ever know?/How can I show myself, my darkest me?". Bernard replies, the conversation ends, and I don't have the ring. If I kill Bernard, the ring is still on him.

The item on the table "These empty sheets..." apparently is meant to give you a Scroll of Prayer of Healing (edit: or possibly a potion of greater healing? Sources online seem to differ). When I say that line he responds, does an animation of handing me an item, but I don't get the item.

The He doesn't put it on the table it is given to the TAV this was one of the things for which was changed in I believe Patch 4.

Correction: after checking my inventory, I am getting the potion of greater healing (though without any notification.) Guiding Light is still on Bernard.

could you explain that please? There's NO quest in my journal for Bernard and saying the proper line IS supposed to have him put the ring on the table. I'm not running with anyone that can use light magic and this BUG is a pain in the a$$ right now as there's no way for me to get to that bottom floor now.

Still no Ring here in German Version. Animation comes, but no RIng of Guiding Light
